IBP Summit in Zurich
"I would challenge you, that from my experience optimisation does not work for operational (i.e. week to week) planning, because it often treats things black and white which are negotiable - change over times and costs for example. Is the message of your presentation that optimization should only be used at the strategic level and then used by people who can make informed judgements about the input costs being used?"
"No, that is not the message. It requires skill and experience to treat the negotiable targets soft and the not negotiable targets as hard. Algorithms compete with the sophisticated judgement that the human brain is capable of. We emphasise that to be successful, business people must have the facilities to rapidly analyze plans and have control over the results."Dialog between Richard Herbage [Premier Foods] and Uneco de Meester [Outperform]
Zurich, 10-11 March 2011
Outperform presented at the Integrated Business Planning summit in Zurich to an audience of Sales and Operations and Integrated Business Planning professionals at the IE conference. The presentation (Dare to optimize!) challenged the audience to push the boundaries a little further. Outperform demonstrated the power of optimization in connection to Sales & Operations Planning and Integrated Business Planning based on 4 different perspectives on the "all company" demand and supply plan.
